PREFACE

There is growing concern about global climate change, promoting many scientists to research this phenomenon. This also expands the broad view of science to trace the nature of climate pattern and most of them have been creating some new methods and also trying various techniques for collecting more data to understand clearly about the dynamic of global climate. In the Asia and Pacific region, the Asia monsoon has specially been challenged by scientists to study the EL Nino phenomenon, dynamics of climate system, alteration of productivity and biological diversity on ecosystem and etc. The interest in palaeoclimatic pattern has been becoming a challenge for this region. But the information of past climate in temperate and sub-tropical region is lacking of accuracy and availability. One of the finding most relevant to forest science comes from the record of natural tree response to climate found in the annual rings of trees.

Tree ring is the material hat provides broad application as it could reflect environmental factors that are related with climate and anthropogenic activities. It is the goal of this workshop to bring scientists in various disciplines to develop and understand the complexity of our proposing forest-management policy and future research needs in the field of dendrochronology should be stimulated.
